25th novel a major milestone for Atlanta crime writer Karin Slaughter

When New York Times bestselling author Karin Slaughter and her longtime London-based editor Kate Elton met last year for their annual two-day brainstorming binge to plot Slaughter’s 25th book “We Are All Guilty Here” (hitting shelves Aug. 12), neither one remembered to bring sticky notes.

Though they’ve been meeting annually for decades, somehow the sticky notes still get left behind. This time, they relied on scrap paper and hotel stationery from their resort in Miami Beach. They scrawled on bits of ripped up pieces, puzzling them out on a table in the room. When they needed fresh air, they meandered the palm tree-lined streets to enjoy an Atlantic Ocean breeze. At meals, their plot-puzzle continued.
