Staggering predictions from the Broward County Medical Examiner and an epidemiologist at Nova Southeastern University have revealed that Broward County is likely to see more than 1,000 fatal drug overdoses by the end of the year, almost doubling 2016’s total of 582 and quadrupling those in 2015. Beyond fatal overdoses, the Broward County Sheriff’s office estimates there are approximately 15 to 20 non-fatal overdoses every day in every emergency room in the county.
